Thanks for contacting me. I will address your questions one at a time.
1. I personally have not worked with students who have a disability,
but I do have friends who have post traumatic stress disorder and I
have gone through PTSD therapy myself for some issues I had when I was
younger. I am always willing to help a student who has a disability
and I personally know what some are going through, but I wish I was
more connected to the community. I am also working with veterans as
well, many of whom have PTSD.
2. I do know of students who attend OSU who live with a disability, or
traumatic brain injury or PTSD.
3. I am not currently aware of the present issues that students
attending OSU have to deal with in this regard.
4. Personally I would like to help those with PTSD either through
legislation at the capitol or helping raise awareness about the issue
on campus.
5. I believe that as a student who has overcome PTSD and still
struggles with the issue that I can relate to these students on a
better level and I can understand there needs. I believe they should
vote for me because I have a different perspective and I am willing to
form a line of communication with them in order to better meet there
needs.
6. I plan on talking to these students, if there is a group of them on
campus that I can address in one sitting, I will do that and if any of
them ever need my help, my door will be open to there needs. SGA
should represent all students and if I can help these students in any
way then I will strive to do so as SGA president.
